Terms of Service
Thanks for using SubScan. These terms are straightforward. Please read them before creating an account. By creating or using a SubScan account, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
SubScan ("the service") is a personal subscription tracker for iOS. It helps you discover and manage recurring-billing subscriptions by parsing your Gmail receipts on your device. The service is operated by an independent developer resident in Belgrade, Serbia (the "developer", "we", "us").
2. Your account
To use SubScan you create an account by signing in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for keeping access to that sign-in account secure. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, or of a higher age if required by the law of your country of residence.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Access the service in a way that interferes with, degrades, or disrupts it, including automated abuse or excessive request volumes.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or to the server infrastructure.
- Reverse-engineer the service to extract credentials or bypass security controls.
- Use the service to violate any applicable law or the rights of any other person.
4. Intellectual property
SubScan, its source code, its design, and its brand are owned by the developer. These terms do not grant you any right to the SubScan name or marks beyond the personal, limited, non-transferable licence to use the iOS app.
Your data — the list of subscriptions and mailbox connections SubScan stores on your behalf — belongs to you. By using the service you grant the developer the minimal technical licence needed to store, process, and display that data back to you and your other devices. That licence ends when you delete your account.
5. Your data, your choice
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and removes every row tied to your account. You can also revoke SubScan's access to Gmail directly from your Google account permissions page. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
6. No warranty
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SubScan is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. Parsing heuristics are not perfect — the app may miss subscriptions or misclassify one-time charges as recurring. You are responsible for reviewing detected subscriptions before acting on them (for example, before cancelling a real service).
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, in no event shall the developer be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.
The developer's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the service, regardless of the legal theory, shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid the developer for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) ten euros (€10). For the avoidance of doubt, where SubScan is provided free of charge, the cap is ten euros (€10).
8. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the developer from and against any claim, liability, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of the rights of any third party.
9. Statutory consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any statutory rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence that cannot be waived or limited by contract. Where such rights grant you more protection than these terms, those rights prevail to the extent of the conflict.
10. Termination
You may stop using SubScan at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms or presents a security risk. Upon termination, we will delete your account data within 30 days. When you delete your account yourself from within the app, deletion is immediate.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes, we will notify signed-in users at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the service after that date means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, you may delete your account at any time.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms that cannot be resolved amicably shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Belgrade, Serbia, subject to any mandatory consumer-law forum under Section 9.
